Professor Windy Dryden
Dr Windy Dryden is Emeritus Professor of Psychotherapeutic Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. He has also held visiting Professorships at the University of Birmingham, University of East London, University of Westminster and London Metropolitan University. He has an international reputation and has trained clinicians across the world, including the USA, South Africa, Turkey and Israel. He was awarded a further honorary Doctorate in Psychology at Babes-Bolyai University in 2005.
Windy was one of the first people in Britain to be trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and trained with Dr Aaron T. Beck and Dr Arnold Lazarus. He has specialised in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) and trained with Dr Albert Ellis.
In a career spanning nearly 50 years, he has worked as an academic, trainer, writer and editor. He has authored and edited over 240 books, written for academics and practitioners as well as the general public. Concurrently, he has maintained a clinical practice, working with individuals, couples and groups in the private sector as well as primary, secondary and tertiary NHS settings.
Personable, down-to-earth and straight-talking, Windy is able to get to the root of an issue in no time. These days he is particularly interested in working with clients using Single-Session Therapy.
