Professor Windy Dryden
Dr Windy Dryden is Emeritus Professor of Psychotherapeutic Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. He has additionally held visiting Professorships at the University of Birmingham, University of East London, University of Westminster and London Metropolitan University. In 2005, he was awarded a further honorary Doctorate in Psychology from Babes-Bolyai University, Romania.
A deeply thoughtful, hugely knowledgeable clinician, Windy was one of the first people in Britain to be trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), under pioneers Dr Aaron T. Beck and Dr Arnold Lazarus. Over his career he has further specialised in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT),studying under the influential American psychologist Dr Albert Ellis.
Windy has been a leading force in the world of cognitive therapy for more than 40 years now, as a writer, clinician and trainer. He has worked in the USA, South Africa, Turkey and Israel as well as authored and edited over 285 books for academics and practitioners - including a self-help series for the general public.
Warm, down-to-earth and straight-talking, Windy brings his depth of knowledge and experience to understanding his clients' internal world; he can get to the root of an issue quickly. He works short to long-term, depending on the clients’ need and resources. He sees individuals, couples and groups as well as offers clinical supervision to colleagues.
