Andrew Mallett

MA (Oxon), PGDip, Group Analyst, Training Group Analyst

Andrew is a group analyst and psychodynamic psychotherapist working with individuals and groups. He is a registered member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA) and the Group Analytic Society International (GASI). He worked as a group therapist in the NHS for 10 years, setting up his private practice in 2016.

Prior to this, Andrew spent 20 years working in business and organisational settings as a trainer and executive coach - specialising in leadership, presentation skills, communication, and personal impact. He has worked with FTSE100 companies as well as smaller businesses and voluntary sector organisations, with C-suite professionals through to new joiners. He has worked primarily in financial services, professional services, PR, publishing, government, and the charity sector.

Andrew likes to create a supportive environment in which people can explore the challenges they face, by considering how they experience themselves in relation to others, past and present, including their social groups. He runs three weekly therapy groups: a group that meets face-to-face, a group that meets online, and a face-to-face group specifically for young adults aged 18-25. He considers group therapy to be a truly creative space where people can think, reflect and discover themselves in often surprising ways. The reliance on relating, participation and collaboration make it an especially dynamic and rewarding form of therapy.

He has run workshops, conducted reflective practice and experiential groups for clinicians and therapy/psychiatric trainees. He is active at the Institute of Group Analysis (London), formerly as a member of the London Courses Committee and now as a Training Group Analyst, meaning he is qualified to provide therapy to group analysts in training.

Alongside practising at CoHS, Andrew works in a London University setting providing individual and group therapy to students. He usually sees individuals once per week, mainly in person, though online sessions can be arranged where necessary.
